Minnesota’s Professional Educators Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) is revising requirements for all teachers in the state, both public and private, to be licensed to teach.
These new requirements now pave the way for a cultural Marxist agenda called “Equity” to enter schools. The equity agenda will fundamentally transform schools into institutions that will view education and all students through a lens of race, gender and sex.
Recommended changes will require teacher licensing to include instruction on “a sharpened focus on educational equity” including:
- “dehumanizing biases, discrimination, prejudices, and institutional and personal racism and sexism.”
- “reflect on the ability for implicit bias to shape discretionary spaces and the role this can play in reproducing or disrupting systems of oppression in schools.”
In an alert notice from the Child Protection League Action, Dr. Josh Mulvihill, Ph.D, Executive Director of Church and Family Ministry at RenewaNation, says equity is a radical educational philosophy driven by the “desire to tear down the existing social structure and create a new social order, driven by rampant criticism of traditional social structures which are seen as oppressive and operates by a secular moral code.”
With this new requirement, teachers will be trained to divide children into two groups: the oppressed: (minority, female, gay, Muslim) and the oppressor: (white, male, heterosexual, Christian). Mulvihill said equity can be summed up by the idea the oppressed people groups must be liberated from all forms of oppression in relation to gender, race, class, politics and religion.
Various school districts have attempted to implement the equity agenda prior to this new requirement. Some parents have pushed back against it, and when they do, they get labeled as “racists”, “bigots” and “intolerant”. At the expense of taxpayers, school districts are hiring “equity advisors” and conducting surveys asking students extremely personal questions about their sexuality. In some districts, parents have not been notified before their students have been given these surveys.
If you are not sure if equity is in your student’s school, some of the buzzwords you should look out for in your children’s homework include: “culturally responsive learning”, “implicit bias”, “gender equity”, “intersectionality”, and “white privilege”.
Racism, sexism, introduction of gender confusion along with the sexualization of children will be infused with your child’s education in the name of equity. Instead of teaching children the subjects they need to succeed in life, they will be taught revised history to fit the narrative that America is an oppressive racist country founded by oppressive rich white men. They will be taught that the Judeo-Christian values of our country are inherently racist and exclusionary towards people of color. Equity is anti-American and anti-Christian. Students will be taught to be social justice activists instead of learning how to be self-reliant young men and women.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. famously said, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” The Equity Agenda takes this famous quote and does exactly the opposite.
